The Author
Shahin Ashraf Ali is an author of children’s books, comic scripts, activity booklets and several features for children and grown- ups. Born, raised and educated {P.G. Social Communications Media & Primary Education} in Mumbai, for nearly two decades, she wrote extensively for the Times Of India group of publications and other media houses.
Post marriage, in pursuit of green living, Shahin and her husband made a choice not many would make. They chose to let go, the comforts and conveniences of living in Mumbai, as well as the prospects of fabulous professional progress the city offered. The couple moved along with their many pets and books to a large farm on the outskirts of the city.
Shahin’s nature inspired teaching and writing blossomed amidst the greenery. Apart from writing books that are available in the bookstores, she is passionate about weaving picture books for StoryWeaver the online platform offering free books for kids to help build reading habits.
Author visits to schools and her past experiences as an independent teacher, convinced her to empower women by tutoring them to become students’ memory trainers. She conducts ‘Train The Trainer - Student’s Memory Training’ workshops for women.
Little wonder then, her books have nature, students, study and eco- care tips in the stories.
Today, if this children’s author is not writing, taking a class, crafting or reading, then she is very likely to be in nature, talking to the trees, flowers, butterflies and other beings around.
